| Join the festivities for National Train Day held at Union Station in Tampa, Florida on May 9, 2009. Check out the historic facility, built in 1912, and view the station from the end of its lengthy platforms, framed by the downtown skyline. Tour Amtrak's Superliner equipment, a rare sight for an area used to Viewliners. Passenger compartments, dining facilities, and the galley are shown in a walk-through. Radio Disney's remote broadcast from the front lawn greets heavy traffic while live music at the platform entrance keeps visitors entertained, including the Lightning Ice Girls, from NHL Stanley Cup winning team the Tampa Bay Lightning. Model train displays and historic Burgert Brothers photos greet the crowds inside TUS, along with event sponsors the Florida Coalition of Rail Passengers and the National Association of Railroad Passengers. Suddenly there are two trains on the platform, a rarity for Tampa, as Train #91, the SILVER STAR arrives. The whistle sounds as the rear sleeper car backs onto track 2 adjacent to a new train(?), the "BLUE MOON". This video is Part 1 of two. See Part 2 at: www.youtube.com |
