My Thomas Bangalter Daft Punk Helmet

First I started off with a baseball helmet as the base and some plain bristol board or card stock as the frame of the face. I used rolled up pieces of paper to hold the shape and size of the visor since it would fold in without any support. Next I used Bondo (which is an autobody filler found at canadian tire or home depot for Canadian and US fans) to spread over the bristol board which makes it very hard and sturdy. I only used one coating due to time restraints but I strongly advise using multiple layers not only for the sake of how strong it is but how smooth it comes out. Next I sanded it down so it wouldn't be so coarse, this is where a lot of time will be put in and your patience will be tested. I only went over mine once, in order to smooth it out you'll need to sand, reapply a layer of bondo as smoothly as possible, sand again, bondo again, sand and so forth until you have a desirable look to your helmet. Spot filler works great too for the little pits the bondo creates but again this is all a matter of how much time you want to put into the helmet and the look you want. The more time you put in the better it will come out. Finally I coated it in a white primer and added a layer of chrome spray paint. My recommendation to anyone who isn't getting a professional chroming done is to skip straight to a layer of matte black primer and then a can of chrome spray paint.
