Жанр: биография, детектив Сериал рассказывает о первых днях и последующей деятельности советских правоохранительных органов от лица главного героя — сотрудника петроградской милиции Николая Кондратьева в период с 1917 по 1970-е годы. Молодой рабочий Путиловского завода Кондратьев по зову долга идёт работать в «угро». Начинать приходится с совместной работы с ещё царскими сотрудниками сыска. Кондратьев занимается различными уголовными делами. Сразу после Великой Отечественной войны он участвует в розыске и поимке приспешников фашистов и изменников Родины. Заканчивает сюжетную линию сериала Кондратьев в звании генерала и наставника молодого пополнения советской милиции.
