| Infantry is designated with meeting with the enemy, and destroying them through the use of small-arms weaponry, the Infantry is one of the worlds oldest weapons, used ever since the dawn of civilization. Many countries worldwide had shown the tactics for infantry in WWII, where the worlds militaries transformed and docrtined new techniques in combat. German infantry were very fanatical, and well trained. During and after WWII, Panzergrenadiers continued to be a strong tank escorting force. The UK had the strongest infantry forces in the world, at one point. During WWII, the extended use of "Commandos" left the country's army at a strong standing. The USSR believes more in combined arms, instead of a well drilled force, even the dreadful "Spetsnaz" special forces only recieve 3 months initial training. The USA had always trusted in infantry, but during WWII, they were forced to come up with a "medium tank" model. During the cold war, Infantry started becoming less and less used, because the losses during the 2nd World War had convinced the participating countries that combined arms is the new way of combat, the famous "Blitzkrieg".. initially tested by the Third Reich. In the modern day, most of the mentioned armies still maintain the same initiative with Infantry, but there are minor differences. The UK now relies on formations of heavy infantry, and heavy tanks. The USSR is more armor and air oriented. The USA now believes that all arms branches must attack simutamiously ... |
