Chintu Chinky Aur Ek Badi Si Love Story - Episode 50 - 28th October 2011

The series is an old world romance set in the present time in a small city -- Bhopal. Chintu is an innocent slightly overweight boy who is destined to get married at 23 like everyone in his large joint family which has thirteen members to be precise including him. The number is inherently not lucky and therefore they have already started to look for a match for him and he is to be married off just after passing out. In such a large family important decisions in life are taken by everyone else except for the concerned party. So Chintu is not exactly looking for a romance and has already accepted the fact that he will be getting married soon until he literally bangs into Chinki and falls head over heels in love with her.Chinki comes from a small nuclear family. Her grandmother and their old loyal servant are the two other members apart from their family planning style family of four, Mother, Father, Brother, Sister. She is therefore more used to taking her own decisions although she is influenced by her grandmother who is a modernist and a romantic. She prompts Chinki to fall in love which by their small city standards is quite a forward thing to do.The love story has it's own share of hits and misses, confusions, formations of love triangles and quadrangles, ups and downs -- all quintessentially small town - stolen glances, first love letters, family cabin dates in restaurants, stolen dates in parks etc and of course family opposition.Yet things resolve themselves ...

MOVIE EXTRA WebFest - Mort

''Mort'' is a black comedy set in a small country town in rural New South Wales, which offers us a glimpse into the world of Newheimer Funerals, and its chief proprietor Morton Newheimer. Having recently inherited the once upstanding business from his deceased parents following a tragic incident, Mort and his younger brother James endeavour to uphold the family’s once proud name in the town but find that their level of debt far outweighs the number of newly deceased. Following an embarrassing incident at a funeral, Mort is left no choice but to fire James who proceeds to embark on a homicidal rampage. Mort soon realises his brothers slayings can provide business for the funeral home, and therefore, allow him to meet his debts and provide for his family. They soon become trapped in a cycle of murder for profit and when a detective comes down from the city to investigate they become tangled in a ring of deceit, greed and corruption, which promises to swallow the town up whole.

I will just briefly summarize the main points that we made in our discussion. We certainly agree with Kofi Annan that this is a moment where we have reached, in effect, the tipping point, with the events over the weekend being the most recent manifestation of that reality. I think we may be beginning to see the wheels coming off of this bus. And that means that what happens next and the steps that are taken by the Syrian authorities and by this Council could well be dispositive. The reality is—as I said in our discussion—it's hard to see that there are any more than three potential outcomes at this stage. The political process—which is so crucial to the success of any transition, which is the purpose of the Annan plan—is thwarted by the ongoing, escalating, expanding violence perpetrated by the government and the reality that the opposition cannot possibly be expected to come to the table while the violence is intensifying, escalating, and the government is lying about it. So those three outcomes are as follows: The first and best outcome would be for the government of Syria to finally and immediately implement its commitments under the Annan plan as it's obliged to do under UN Security Council resolutions.
