90 at 9, Dec 14: Dubai's deadline looms; Budget forecast near; Income splitting plan

Bernard Hickey details the key news overnight in 90 seconds at 9am, including news Dubai faces its December 14 deadline to repay its US$5.5 billion Nakheel Sukuk, Bloomberg reported. This is an Islamic bond at the centre of Dubai's debt crisis. No one is really sure whether Dubai can repay it and calm down global markets. Meanwhile, in New Zealand, the Treasury is due to release its Budget Economic and Fiscal Update tomorrow for the 2010 Budget, Brian Fallow at NZHerald reports. This will set the scene for how tough Bill English's budget has to be. Also, Revenue Minister Peter Dunne has released his income splitting proposal, which would reduce the tax paid by families with children. National has agreed to support this to a first reading. The Tax Working Group however has not focused on income splitting.

First we have a map of Africa; it shows Senegal in the Western part of Africa below the Sahara Desert. As we move on there is a picture of the Senegal national soccer team. This sport is one of high popularity in Senegal, and you can see by the large number of fans. You also can see by the locals playing on the beach. One of the easiest most widespread uses of nutrition around Senegal is fish. Since Senegal is on the coast many fish are caught and eaten in Senegal. The country's national dish is Ceebu Jen. This national dish is served with fish. Next we have a public transportation vehicle. This beat up van is used to transport people from place to place. Another way of transportation is through the Gambian river. Many people use simple canoes to navigate through this calm water. There are many different faces to Senegal. Here we see barren land with are leafless tree most likely in an uninhabited area. These are huts built by locals; these huts are located in villages and towns away from largely populated places. Here is the other side of Senegal. There are multiple buildings in a small area and many cars. Here is an artist rendition of the Nakheel tower in Dakar. This tower is to be bigger than the Sears tower and the Burj Dubai, making it the tallest building in the world. Here is a more religious area of Senegal.
