| Sorry for the sloppiness of my video! I am really new to recording, and because of how tedious it is to replant the reeds, I wanted to do this in one take. This is my vertical tree farm. It has a footprint of about 12x12x64, and it yields over 2000 reeds, which can be harvested in (optimally, assuming no SMP water bugs) only two clicks. Once all the reeds have grown, I make my way to the top of the farm using the 4x4 water-ladder in its center with an empty bucket in hand. I scoop up the single source water block that spirals down the farm, and give it some time to drain (though it doesn't need to drain completely before the next step!). Then, I replace the water block. As the water flows down the farm again, it "updates" the reeds it passes, which then "notice" that they were in an invalid spot without any water, and they collapse. As this disintegrating wave propagates, the reeds can be easily picked up from the areas they were growing on, while others fall outside to the ground to be easily collected, and still others are swept down with the water current to a collection area at the bottom. |
