Morning Meltdown June 7, 2011 Cicada blamed in mishap A cicada is taking the blame for a minor car accident that occurred in a church parking lot last Sunday. According to a report by Cookeville Police Officer Eric Hall, the driver was backing out of a parking space at The River Church on May 29 when she was "attacked" by a cicada. "She said the bug scared her so bad that she jumped out of her car (while) it was still in reverse, which caused it to scrape down the side of an adjacent parked car," he wrote. Hall estimated the damage of each vehicle at more than $400. It's at least the second such police report involving cicadas in the last week. On June 1, a Free Hill Road resident called the Putnam County Sheriff's Department complaining of a "loud machinery noise" behind his house. The deputy advised the man that it was cicadas and they'd stop in "about a week and a half." Jueves 7 de Julio de 2011. Durante el paseo de Diego (mi perruno) por el campastro, me lleve mi cámara reflex para ir probando diferentes opciones de fotografía y demás, ya que aun la tenia que coger el truco para manejarla correctamente, esta vez hice un vídeo de prueba al anochecer cuando me encontraba entre los olivos, como se puede apreciar, las cigarras comenzaban a cantar, no hacia mucho calor por eso que suenan con un canto bastante lento y un sonido poco definico, como si estubieran roncas o estropeadas x33 sin claridad, la especie de Cigarra que se puede apreciar claramente es la Cicada Orni, muy común en Europa donde se la puede encontrar en cualquier bosque o zona arbolada, por muy árida que esta sea, aunque curiosamente solo las he escuchado en el centro peninsular, baleares, y el Levante peninsular, por el Norte durante mi estancia allí, no la escuche a lo largo del verano, en el sur peninsular tampoco las he llegado a oír, pero en cambio allí abunda la Cicada Barbara Lusitanica, una especie parecida a la Cicada Orni, su canto es continuo una vez que arranca y el color del insecto es marrón, anaranjado y parduzca, ya pondré vídeos de esa Cicada =3

Vídeo que muestra los agujeros que forman las cigarras al emerger de la tierra para convertirse en adulto al mudar la piel,suelen salir de madrugada cuando no hay depredadores como lo son los pájaros y animales(aparte de las personas claro).Escalan por el árbol hasta situarse en una zona media o alta del tronco para así poder realizar la muda bien y sin peligro de las hormigas puedan comérselas cuando están en el momento mas vulnerable de su vida,podéis ver en el vídeo a la piel de la cigarra agarrada al árbol y por lo que pude comprobar salio esa noche anterior a filmarla ya que estuve la tarde anterior y no había nada hay,siempre reviso árbol por árbol diariamente para contarlas y así saber si han nacido nuevas o no. Si vais estos días que va a hacer calor las podréis oír a partir de mediodía cantar por los arboles,pero al atardecer también hay muchísimas si la temperatura esta por encima de los 27 grados y yo voy a aprovechar para filmarlas emitiendo ese sonido tan característico.
