Scorpions - Wind Of Change (Original Version)

Die Scorpions sind eine deutsche Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Band aus Hannover. Die erfolgreichste Besetzung der Scorpions waren Francis Buchholz (Bass), Klaus Meine (Gesang), Matthias Jabs (Gitarre), Rudolf Schenker (Gitarre) und Herman Rarebell (Schlagzeug). In dieser Besetzung veröffentlichen sie Hits wie „Blackout", „Still loving You", „No one like you" oder „Rock you like a Hurricane" , die international bis heute zu den Rockklassikern gezählt werden. In Deutschland wird der Sound der Band oft auf ihre Ballade „Wind of Change" reduziert. Charakteristisch für den Sound sind harte Powerchord-Gitarrenriffs von Rudolf Schenker im Zusammenspiel mit den melodiösen Soli von Matthias Jabs sowie die hohe metallische Stimme von Frontmann Klaus Meine und solide simple Standard-Schlagzeug-Rockbeats. Häufig zählt man sie zu den Initiatoren der so genannten Powerballade. Bands wie Metallica, Bon Jovi, und Def Leppard spielten in jungen Jahren als Vorband für die Scorpions. Billy Corgan, Frontmann der Smashing Pumpkins, zählt die Scorpions als seinen größten musikalischen Einfluss. Gleiches gilt für Bands wie Van Halen, Bon Jovi oder System of a Down, welche auch einzelne Songs der Scorpions gecovert haben.

Boulder WC 2010 report #1 - Greifensee

The Boulder World Cup 2010 will be a thrilling affair, at least for the boys! Current champion Kilian Fischhuber and wonder boy Adam Ondra tied at the finals in Switzerland's Greifensee with Kilian only winning because his better semi final performance. Bouldering contests are much more experience dependend than lead events. After floating through most of the qualification and the first semi final problems, Adam temporarily lost it (as you can see in the clip) and looked like, well, the seventeen year old boy that he actually is! In the finals though he gave Kilian a tough run for the money. Very impressevely Kilian dealt with the pressure of Adam flashing problem #3 and #4. It will be very interesting to observe this duell over the course of the season. As for the girls, Jacky Godoffe's less than inspired route setting in my opinion left a lot to be desired. For the future there is quite some room for improvement to get the girl problems up the standard of the boys. It was a close decission between current champion Akiyo Noguchi, Chloé Graftiaux and the final winner, Alex Johnson from the States. Shot with my "2010 toy guerrilla camera set", consisting of a Nikon D5000 and 2 Kodak Zx1. Of course the quality is solala, but the bag is cheap and light :-)

1963 TV Concert: 'It's The Beatles' Live

Live, television: It's The Beatles 3.45pm, Saturday 7 December 1963 Following their appearance on the BBC television show Juke Box Jury, The Beatles recorded a special concert appearance for the corporation at Liverpool's Empire Theatre. The performance took place in front of 2500 members of The Beatles' Northern Area Fan Club, between 3.45 and 4.30pm. It was filmed in its entirety by the BBC, and 30 minutes were broadcast that evening from 8.10pm to 8.40pm during a special programme entitled It's The Beatles. The group played a short version of From Me To You, followed by I Saw Her Standing There, All My Loving, Roll Over Beethoven, Boys, Till There Was You, She Loves You, This Boy, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Money (That's What I Want), Twist And Shout, and another version of From Me To You. Technical problems and lack of rehearsal times meant the sound balance for the concert recording was sub-standard. Both The Beatles and senior figures at the BBC later expressed concern at the often embarrassing nature of the footage, which included the absence of Ringo vocals during Boys and the director focusing on the wrong members of the group during key moments. After the concert the BBC also recorded a two-minute interview with the group to use on the Christmas Day edition of Top Of The Pops. The Beatles then made the short journey to the nearby Odeon Cinema on London Road where they gave two evening concerts. The police closed Pudsey Street to the public to allow the group to ...

"Fell in love with this song the moment I heard it, I honestly didnt do the original song justice. But this was fun to do regardless, as, other than the original track, there was little to no material to assist me so was forced to do it by ear. Mix is a lil' poor in this, im not that good when it comes to mixing live instruments with such a prominent midi string part. Rhythm guitar was triple tracked, lead was improvised over the rhythm like all my videos. Lemme know what you think!
