| Trip started with no fuel at Norwood. I was supposed to first fly to Mansfield (10 miles away) for fuel but fortunately, the plane was refueled by the previous lesson at Hanscom. Boston departure said I was clear of class Bravo and could climb but the MFD said I wasn't clear of Bravo. So I called Boston to verify and they said I was cleared through class Bravo. Checking the tape, he did initially say "clear of" class Bravo, so I'm glad I called back (none of this is in video). A tornado hit Southbridge on 6/1/2011. The path of the tornado is visible on final approach to Southbridge. Also, a piled of wrecked planes and severely damaged planes can been seen on the ramp. Also not on the video is the school's Cirrus SR20, dead as a doornail in the middle of runway 35 back at Norwood. This happened just after I landed -- they had a flat tire. The airport stayed open by using runway 28. |
