April 1 2009 - Stunt #3 UTDallas' first ever improv group directed by active students on campus. We meet up and perform stunts on campus akin to Improv Everywhere (check them out @ improveverywhere.com). All our stunts share a certain modus operandi: Members ("agents") are to play their roles entirely straight, not breaking character or betraying that they are acting. Our stunts are benevolent, aiming to give bystander faculty and students a laugh and an experience. We wish to break the anesthetized mood of student apathy that seems pervasive at the University of Texas at Dallas. Woodfield Flash Freeze / Flash Mob

Word got around about this flash freeze mob from a Facebook Event, and word spread like wildfire. Friends invited friends, either by inviting them to the event or just outright telling them. Soon, 6000+ people on Facebook RSVP'd to be at Woodfield for the flash mob, and it was a success. (Although I don't think 6000 really came.) Took place on December 19th, 2010 at 1:00pm-1:03pm. Some details... on the Facebook Event page, people were instructed to neet near the center of the mall and to set their phones to vibrate at 1:00pm sharp, signaling everyone to freeze in place. The participants also set an alarm to go off 3 minutes later at 1:03pm, signaling the end of the freeze.

First Arizona Light Rail No Pants Day

Improv everywhere is a group that has done group freezes, MP3 experiments, and a ton of brilliant group improv events in public settings. Since 2002 they have had an annual No Pants Day where they get a bunch of people to ride public transportation wearing colorful underwear, acting like everyone just happened to forget their pants and there isn't anything particularly odd. For No Pants Day 2009 they are trying to get other cities to participate. Magically, Phoenix will have our light rail working by then, which has to be an omen if I've ever seen one.
