Fire Kills 13 Toddlers In Doha Shopping Mall

Thirteen toddlers are among 19 people dead after a fire ripped through a large shopping centre in Doha, the Qatari government has said. Seven girls and six boys were killed after the blaze broke out at a day care centre at the Villaggio mall earlier today. They were aged between one and three and were trapped in the day care centre for more than two hours, local journalists who attended an official news conference told one news channel. All of the dead were foreigners, who included Europeans and Japanese people. One Spanish family is said to have lost three children. The casualties also included four female teachers and two firefighters. "There don't seem to have been any fire alarms or sprinklers at the mall," a relative of a two-year-old child who died in the fire told the Reuters news agency. Thick black smoke was seen billowing from the building at the height of the fire, which broke out at about 11am local time. Some 17 people, including two children, were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. Many of those in the shopping centre when the alarm was raised were evacuated through the roof. The flames were under control within hours. The cause of the fire is not known. Brian Candy, a photographer who took pictures at the scene, told Sky News: "There were more emergency services than I've ever seen in my life in attendance... air ambulances coming and going. "There was a lot of noise... noise of emergency services people shouting instructions, what sounded ...

Alex Covers Wikileaks Video: A Culture of Psychopathic Abuse in Iraq on The Alex Jones Show 2/4

Wikileakd video shows US troops firing on Reuters reporters and Iraqi children [[ Pentagon cover-up expands to demonize whistleblower for leak ]] Aaron Dykes & Alex Jones www.Infowars.com http April 6, 2010 War is a known entity in its capacity to warp the value of life for those involved. Dehumanization takes many forms, but few examples are more visceral and enraging than this leaked video of an Apache helicopter opening fire on a group of Iraqi civilians in 2007, at least two of whom turned out to be crew members for Reuters. Two children were injured, or possibly killed, as passengers in a van also fired upon when it pulled up to rescue a wounded man trying to crawl away. This is video the Pentagon never wanted the public to see. As Alex Jones explains, it is yet another damning piece of evidence showing how far into darkness and evil we have fallen in the United States. It is not only the warhawks who coerce us into wars based on lies, or the individual soldiers who commit crimes and kill without conscience, it is also the easy-going supporters of the establishment and passive public who allow the wars, and their accompanying atrocities, to go on and on. Until we stand up to stop it, we are allowing it to perpetuate and worsen. Wikileaks covers the Collateral Murder video, released April 5. WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad — including two Reuters news ...

Pakistan: US Accused of Using Drones to Target Rescue Workers and Funerals

democracynow.org - The CIA's drone campaign targeting suspected militants in Pakistan has killed dozens of civilians who had gone to rescue victims or were attending funerals. So concludes a new report by the London-based Bureau of Investigative Journalism. It found that since President Obama took office three years ago, as many as 535 civilians have killed, including more than 60 children. The investigation also revealed that at least 50 civilians were killed in follow-up strikes when they had gone to help victims. More than 20 civilians have also been attacked in deliberate strikes on funerals and mourners. We speak to Chris Woods, award-winning reporter with the Bureau of Investigative Journalism. "We noted that there were repeated reports at the time, contemporaneous reports in publications like New York Times, news agencies like Reuters, like CNN, that there were these strikes on rescuers, that there were reports of an initial strike and then some minutes later, as people had come forward to pull out the dead and injured that drones had returned to the scene and attacked rescues," Woods says, "We have been able to name just over 50 civilians that we understand have been killed in those attacks. In total, we think that more than 75 civilians have been killed specifically in these attacks on rescuers and on mourners, on funeral-goers."
