Slow motion camera shutter - Canon 5D Mark II 2000 fps

Slow motion video of a Canon 5D Mk II DSLR taking a picture. Shot with a Redlake N3 high speed camera at 2000 frames per second. You can see the mirror lift up, the shutter curtain open and close, and the mirror drop back down. As you can see, the entire image is not captured at the same instant. Instead, the top of the image is captured before the bottom, although the difference is only a few milliseconds.

Autofocus in Movie Mode on the Canon 5D Mark II

A clip illustrating how "auto focus" is possible on the 5D Mark II in movie mode. Some people are not aware that the "Live Mode" style of auto focus used in Live View can be used while shooting video on the 5D MK II. While this is less than ideal because of noise and change in the shot exposure, it is a way to have the camera verify that the shot is in focus. I don't like to use this style of focus, but it may be useful to some of you debating on using this camera for video.

Biking with 5D Mark II

Testing the Canon 5D Mark II with a super wide angle lens while biking on King street and Yonge street in Toronto. Unfortunately it started raining and a raindrop on my wide lens ruined the second half of the shot. This was shot a few weeks ago and was before Canon release the Manual Exposure firmware. It'll be interesting to test different shutter speeds for this now.

I stayed with several amazing families. One of the people we stayed with was a man named Heifara. He runs an awesome boat tour where we went out everyday swimming with the shark, stingray, and everything else the ocean has to offer.
