We are already counting down to the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku. We do that by looking back to recent editions of Europe's favorite TV show. We start with 2004, when the contest was held in Istanbul, Turkey. Ruslana represented Ukraine at the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Wild Dances'. She won, and brought the contest to Kiev the year after.

Opened in September it will be the home of Slask Wroclaw this month. The heavyweight clash between Vitali Klitshcko and Tomasz Adamek was held here. 2. Poznan Stadion Miejski: 43090. Shared home of Lech Poznan and Warta Poznan. Rebuilt and opened last year but has had pitch problems due to lack of natural light reaching the surface. 3. Gdansk PGE Arena: 44636. Previously called the Baltic Arena, exterior designed to represent amber, which is mined on the Baltic coast. Rebuilt for Euro 2012 it is the home of Lechia Gdansk. 4. Warsaw Stadion Narodowy: 58224. National stadium will host opening game. Rebuilt. Includes an indoor sports centre and Olympic-sized swimming pool. Due to be ready in November. 5. Lviv Lviv stadium: 34915. A new ground due to be constructed in July but remains unfinished. The historic city was one of the few in Ukraine to escape Second World War damage. 6. Kiev NSK Olimpiyskyi: 63195. The former Red Stadium rebuilt for £550m will host the final. It is the Ukrainian National Stadium, although Dynamo Kiev are likely to play big games here. 7. Kharkiv Stadion Metalist: 35721. Ukraine's stray dogs burnt on altar of Euro 2012

Ukraine is cleaning up for when it hosts the Euro 2012 football tournament. In some areas that includes the burning of stray dogs in a mobile incinerator, and animal rights activists are angry. Night time cold war for Ukraine's homeless

www.euronews.net For the homeless of Ukraine, the polar weather is a matter of life and death. There is some relief from the bitter conditions at government shelters. Ten of those shelters have been set up in the capital Kiev offering hot food and drinks, but they close at 9pm. For those who scrape a few coppers doing odd-jobs, a big fear is becoming ill.
