| The 18th of November Latvia celebrates its independence. During this day you can certainly feel that their regained independence is still a fresh topic. Most of the people walking around here, even of my age (21), will always carry the 'born in the Soviet Union' inscription in their passports. A strange thought... Many historical events, some bloody, some as a harmless silent protest, took place right here next to the Daugava River. When listening to these thousands of people silently singing along their national anthem I realized how wonderful it actually is that I can just live in the lovely city of Riga without any sorrows about freedom. In this video you'll first hear Latvia's National Anthem, followed by a great piece of firework at the Daugava River. |
