What follows is a very honest, insightful and terrifying message as he touches on the police perspective and the militarization of the police (which was largely excused as necessary by the War on Drugs). .......... "When I was a "police officer" back in the early '70s the transformation was just starting to take place from a mentality of a public servant working for the citizens to "law enforcement". The first I noticed of it was when the police departments started preferential hiring of ex-military people returning from Viet Nam. They started introducing military tactics into the department, including the first SWAT team. They quit referring to people on the street as citizens and started calling them "civilians", or more commonly "assholes". "They looked for opportunities to use their new toys provided from "federal assistance" monies in the war on drugs. They changed the uniforms from the blue-suited cop with an 8-sided hat with a shield on front to a set of black or navy fatigues and a ball cap. They started shaving their heads and pumping iron. They gave up on the idea that they put themselves in the line of fire to protect and serve the public and took on a combat marine attitude of protect their own above all else. Largest neodymium magnet in the world? [HD]

This video features my largest neodymium magnet which also happens to be one of the largest in the world. I haven't seen neodymium magnets larger than 6 inches (I've heard about thin 8 inchers). There is no need for a larger one so they never really bothered to make them or the equipment needed for a larger one. A lot of people ask what the magnet costed me. The normal prize for this magnet is 349 Euro which is around 470 US Dollars in today's exhange rates (february 2011). It is easy to get 10% discount and more is possible if you buy frequently like me. I still paid alot for this magnet though... [Update august 2011: The prize is now 799€. I guess neodymium is getting very expensive very fast! A lot of people have asked me why I would buy a 500$ magnet. I like to answer: Because it is now worth the double :-p] This was my first HD-video on Youtube. It was shot with a Canon HF10 in 1920 x 1080i AVCHD and edited on a Dell Studio XPS with Pinnacle Studio HD Ultimate Collection (version 14). The recorded sound is not so good in this video because of a lot of background noise. This is not the video camera's fault. I had to shoot this video with the camera far away from the magnet and then zoom in. This is to avoid any damage to the camera from the strong magnetic field, flying shrapnel etc. In more recent HD-videos I have recorded in 1080p, since Youtubes compressor hates interlaced formats and adds the digital artifacts you see in this video. Thanks to Rustyfan for this great capture. In 1960 Daytona Superspeedway hosted this sportsman race. 68 cars entered into the race, back then there were a maximum of 68 cars in a superspeedway race. Coming out of turn four 37 cars get into a massive wreck where at least six cars get on their roofs. Amazingly, evryone walked away from this. By the way, I am really getting tired of people having arguments that lead to name calling and slander. If I see a comment that put another member down or uses any derogatory language, I will delete it and any replies to it immediately. Also, if you do not like racing or think it is a sport, that's fine, but at least give some logical thought into a comment that you post. I will once again delete any comment along the line of "nascar sucks" or "nascar is for dumb rednecks LOL!!1!1". All I ask is for some civilized conversation, and not trash talking.
