thats true but it doesn't alot of modification my other brother used it on a junky on a bus who tried to punch him and the was squealing like a pig.
I currently ...
I currently practice shinryukan aikido, before that I did ninjutsu and bjj. My problem with aikido is that the practitioners shouldn't have to do extra training on the side. It's horribly inefficient if you have to modify everything you learn for real world use.

Whatever helps you ...
Whatever helps you sleep at night. I get that impression though that if you were to walk into a kickboxing class you would get a rude awakening.
The problem though ...
The problem though is that very few instructors are willing to teach with anything but the useless attacks. Most of them are more concerned with their students passing a grading than they are with their students actually being able to defend themselves. Really if you're wanting to teach aikido that actually works in less than 20 years of training you'd need to abandon the big organisations and start an informal club. Replace the attacks. Shomon-uchi to punch, yokoman-uchi to hook punch etc.
there's no reason ...
there's no reason you cant use realistic attacks in aikido that's what i do. i've got a friend who use's aikido in his work and he works as a bouncer.
i practice this art ...
i practice this art and it is alot of fun. alot of high powdered throws and locks.
You're right, the ...
You're right, the last technique in the video is actually a Hapkido technique. The location is a dojang (korean cognate for dojo) in Seoul, South Korea.
@somewhereinnz ...
@somewhereinnz aikido is very affective because you can acctually take any technique and no matter how someone goes at you, you can put yourself into a position to do a very effective technique.
Every martial art ...
Every martial art has holes in it. I've been doing martial arts for the last 12 years, aikido for just over a year. The techniques work very well, but from my experience in other martial arts the problem is that the attacks are not those you'd commonly have used against you in the real world. Aikido practitioners would do well to practice in another style at the same time, one using common strikes. A very good art, but severely lacking in some aspects.
