I think Regina uses God to signify a universal higher power. The perception of this power may differ among individuals, but when our actions or words contradict our own perception (when we are hypocrites), it doesn't end well. We ponder why bad things happen to us. The reasons why bad things happen may be so obscure that we are unable to form a logical cause-effect linkage for them. I believe humans desire to be driven by a power, and if we aren't yet, we are probably struggling a great deal.

He does care about how people treat each other. Who told you he didn't? He doesn't just focus on when people laugh at him . It breaks his heart when people mistreat other people that's never the way he intended it to be.

God doesn't cause all bad things to happen sometimes he lets the devil do things to wake you up. You can just automatically assume it's God causing all these bad things to happen. Sometimes it's just you making stupid decisions. If you pray to God he will always show up in the most unexpected ways. Before you go thinking of all the negative things, look at the things that seemed impossible that God let happen.. The point is God isn't a joke and doesn't deserve to be treated like one.
