Honestly, one of ...
Honestly, one of the best anime I could possibly recommend. Comes very close to to my favourites, however for lesser intellectuals this is an incredible look into the human mind and what it means to be human. Incredibly well done and quite profound. I recommend this anime to anyone.

It's about these kids who control this big robot and fight other robots that are invading the earth. But each person who controls the robot (the pilot) dies in the end, since the robot works by using the pilot's life to move and attack. If they don't fight though, then the entire earth will be destroyed. It's really good! i'd recommend the manga though since i thought it was better.

Probably my 3rd favorite series behind only Cowboy Bebop (English dub), and Gurren Lagann. That was a tearjerker! I was sad when kamina died but when Nia died, I started bawling!!! And I cried when Kittan died.
