Actually, you're wrong. There's no such thing as a 10-to-the-36th power mm lens. They used a wide angle, a medium, and a close-up on 3 Red cameras. Post-processing made it look like it went from a 25mm - 10-to-the-36th-power mm lens.

I don't think you understood the making of correctly, 10 to the 36th power millimeter lenses are pretty hard to find :)

Called fractal zoom, they did the compositing in NUKE, but I am sure you could do it After Effects- amazing camera work and motion graphics. The movie was awesome too! Bravo Neil Burger!

The way they shot ...
The way they shot it was with a rig of three cameras mounted side by side. Each one head a different lens that goes from a 25mm to a 10-to-the-36th-power millimeter. They shot 45 different camera perspectives for the scene and edited it. Pretty impressive!

Nice ... !!! I'd kinda like to see this title sequence without the titles. It's trippy ... sorta like "Zoom Quilt", only done with camera footage. Exhale .... :) How's the movie?
