if that center ...
if that center peice is just a gimmick its quite a huge one and seems to be the center of their adveritisment. That would be the tollest building in the world by a lot and would probably cost far more then the 25 life zones that are suggested. and you are right in their rendering the city of silk seem to hold millions not just 700,000 the 25 life zones seems like a good idea the rest not so much. hope it works out.

@Crazylalala They're building '25 life zones' with a family orientation, so that's where the citizen population will be. I think the high rises are a lie, most of them are copied from the L.A skyline to impress. I'm as confused about that part as you. It seems to me that with so many high rises you could maintain closer to 3m people. The center piece tower is a marketing gimmick. The MUST for housing and job I think comes from what FDR tried to do in the U.S, but failed. We borrowed the idea.

well the MUST part of it certenly is not common in many other countries. although similar programs do exist perhaps at a different scale. this might be another missunderstanding on my part, but Silk city seems to be mostly appartments and not houses. In fact seemed like a resurt town for the rich in the way they depict it in their renderings. Isnt that counter productive considering your statment of the unwillingless of citizens to live in appartments?

@Crazylalalala I meant the government MUST provide a free house to every married couple, which means citizens are unwilling to live in apartments. As it is, expansion can only continue westward and southward (no south west, since there's a giant oil lake), which creates bottle necks as they commute to Kuwait City through tight spaces between oil fields. East is the Gulf, and North across the bay is where the silk city would be. I understand your skepticism; projects in the Gulf are often stupid.

i dont knw why you thought it was necessary to tell me the story about the ownership cause pretty much every country people have that right. That figure does makes sense but only assuming that the population growth would remain at 3.5% per year which i dont know if it is reasonable. and it is unusual Kuwait as an incredibly high growth rate. my main problem with it is that there is plenty of space in Kuwait why spend that kind of money in one spot? but i dnt knw much about it

Actually, Kuwait's population is booming. We are having a hard time developing new homes for new citizens. In Kuwait, every citizen has a constitutional right to ownership of his own piece of land/house. The current citizen population of Kuwait is slightly more than 1 million. Silk city is expected to house 700,000 over 23 yrs of development. It's not so unusual that the population would rise by 50% in 20 yrs. This is natural growth, not an attempt to import a population.
