Seriously, people ought to set aside those dusty Cold War politics and realize that this plane is just as good a piece of machinery as a Boeing or Airbus. I actually admire Russian planes because they tend to operate in conditions far worse than any Boeing or Airbus ever could.

The problem with Tupolev is partly political, it'll be a long time before politics allows any major western airline to buy them. All aircraft crash at some time, but we don't go around saying theyre inherently unsafe when 747's, A330's etc crash do we?
