Sounds like "One Cab's Family" by MGM, 1952, fortunately the kid survived. Also there was MGM's "Little Johnny Jet", 1953, with a baby airplane. Warners also had "Streamlined Greta Green" 1937, about a naughty little boy-car who kept playing chicken with a train, with interesting results.
