Mazzy Star was exactly what I was thinking. You expressed the same sentiments as I have about Lana Del Ray. I haven't heard any female artist from the US this good since Mazzy Star. What's even better is that after listening to a number of her songs, she's no one hit wonder. Like with so very few artists out there, it's albums like hers that make it worth going out and spending the money to buy the CD.

I usually am not a big fan of modern female singers -- I'm not sexsist or anything, it's just rare that I find one whose music really resonates with me. Lana, however, has something special about her. It's like I've rediscovered Mazzy Star all over again. At the risk of sounding lame, I honestly think her music is magical. I think I'm in love.
