How well does it do ...

How well does it do with large logs? I've been thinking about buying an electric one because I don't do that much splitting so I don't want another gas engine tool sitting around to have to worry about gas going bad in, or trying to maintain.

Because they didn't ...

Because they didn't send one to test.

Why didn't you ...

Why didn't you review an electrical hydraulic splitter? My dad has a 4 ton one, and it's surprisingly effective.

I just purchased ...

I just purchased the 27 ton Craftsman splitter. Still waiting on it to come to the Sears were I ordered it. I have a Jotul 400 wood stove. I heat my home with only wood. It's a huge labor intensive process. After this first year, it was obvious that a gas powered splitter would make the job a whole lot easier! Thanks Tim for taking the time to show this splitter in action.

thanks for the reply on my comment it meant a lot, I was wandering I've been wanting to make a cobble stone walk way but I've always liked shaping the stones myself from easy to find natural sources in my area (I fairly enjoy working with stone), my question being this do you know of a good hammer or tool for doing this

Thanks for your kind comment. I'm just following the Comment Policy on the front page of my channel. It's really easy. Just keep in mind the old saying: "Actions speak louder than words." You see, it's easy to type a comment. It can be done in seconds. But it takes time and effort to tape a video. What's more, on a video, you and everyone else can see if the person really knows what their talking about. That's why you never see those making bad comments come back with a video.

dude the way you ...

dude the way you handle the mean or obscene comments is excellent , the way you word your retorts is completely awesome you should consider teaching a debate class, if you do sign me up because I've never seen a you-tuber handle nasty comments so intelligently and efficiently before your great (great vids )

Thanks for your comment. I'm sure that women who visit this channel will most probably tell you what they think of your invention. My guess is that some of their comments I may have to delete because of language that will undoubtedly cross the line.

i built a prototype log splitter...I put my fat 500 pound wife on a seat i mounted to an old basketball pole and underneath i welded a strong maul. Its on a remote contol garage door opener. I get to set back drink a beer or two and push the remote.

I have always ...

I have always enjoyed splitting wood, it was enjoyable work. For someone older, and those knoty logs, some assitance doesn't hurt, like a log splitter. They do however cost 1,000 of dollars, I seen some to day, for $1299.00, the more expensive were $1699.00. It depends on how often you split wood, if the investment is necessary. I would say someone 23, could split wood quite quickly, I have split alot in a few hrs, a F250 truck load, that isn't including stacking. Red Oak..with maul.

My great ...

My great grandfather was a logger. He said that they had worked so hard that they would never gain any weight.....He also lived to be 101 years old! Doing it by hand is a great workout

If you need the wood for your second cabin; do it manually. Why? Because your most likely a "dough boy", and need the exercise.

Nice video, thanks. ...

Nice video, thanks. Here in the Phoenix, AZ area we had massive wind storms that brought down alot of mature pine and mesquite trees. I got perhaps 5 cords of great log wood, for free. Bought a maul, and wedge, and it looks like the green stuff doesn't want to split. I'll be renting a log splitter soon!

yeah or you end up ...

yeah or you end up burying wedges to try to split it

great video. in ...

great video. in response to those who think they can split better with a maul than a log splitter, if I was using this guys dried up seasoned wood, i would say yep. but no way can you split notted up maple, douglas fir that is wet and sappy or some nasty black walnut. your wedge gets stuck in the first 3 inches of the log and then you end up pounding it with another maul and this goes on and on for hours just trying to split up one round. dried up lincoln logs are no test.

Not only that, ...

Not only that, some types of wood you simply can't split with a maul. I'm 21 and in good shape, but woods like Elm!) are pretty much impossible to split by hand.

what type of maul ...

what type of maul is that what brand and where can you get one

when you want to ...

when you want to split wood with this handsplitter you need 8 weeks for the wood and per hand you need2 hours!!

Great video! I'm ...

Great video! I'm thinking about getting a woodsplitter , I'm only 15 but I really need this for my family and definitely for the future. Could you tell me the durability of the heavy duty woodsplitter. I'm thinking of either a vermeer or a craftsman. Thanks!

You're 150% correct ...

You're 150% correct. A maul is faster for small amounts. We humans get tired. The machine just keeps going full tilt as long as you feed it gas and oil.
