Well it is of course very true that we each like our own tools to work with. :) To be frank I never worked with 3D Maxs but it does seem they take a completely different approach to modeling with their modeler. There are by the way a lot of alternatives to LW's modeler, and you can also still use Maxs modeler with LightWave, you'd just have to convert the models. Heck I've used other modelers for certain stuff. :)

No offense taken, but that's just my opinion about modeler. It's not as robust as 3ds max, no modifiers, no retop tools, you can't even preview many actions like array, connect, rounder ect. can't render without leaving the app. modeler is very barebones basic. modeler is a poor-man's modo

Hardware shading and virtual cams are not new, just new to lightwave this is the first lightwave to actually be in the 21st century I really wish they explained improvements in modeling tools more because modeler has always sucked

it's not just bigger and better, but even people who work with it everday still learn new things on it.

I started learning 3D modelling with Maya, but then i started taking classes in 'graphics and design' and my college only has Lightwave - so thats what i had to get at home.. At first i was sceptical, but when i got used to the interface I started to really like it, I recommend Lightwave 10 to both beginners and pros ^__^ -Layout is a plus too. ~Serps.
