An Atomic Bomb will stop the Gulf Oil Leak, LOOK!

...

We've learned a lot ...

We've learned a lot since the development of the atomic bomb, back then people didn't have any comprehension of the consequences the toxins had. After all, it's why a lot of children were being born mentally impaired, not to mention cancer in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Maybe its a good ...

Maybe its a good idea, maybe it's not. Practical use of nuclear weapons carries serious consequences, and requires thorough study. Hence making any discussion on a youtube blok totally pointless.

Doesn't make a ...

Doesn't make a difference. Shock-waves travel just as well vertically as they do horizontally

So after detonating ...

So after detonating thousands of atomic bombs throughout history humanity would be wiped out by just this last ONE?

We couldn't trust ...

We couldn't trust them at all. But remember, both sides had massive spy networks infiltrating the other. If one side had tried to pull a bluff this big you can bet the other side would have called them out. Not to mention we had spy planes over that country testing the air for radiation 24/7

at the same time. ...

at the same time. This IS propaganda from the USSR. Can we really trust communist russia to tell the truth?

well if they drill ...

well if they drill deep enough under the sea floor I don't think it likely for too much radiation to seep into the water. in the video we just watched the commentater said that no radiation was detected after the blast.if you're worried about radiation getting into the sea creatures we eat the fukushima (i hope i spelled that correctly) disaster is a much bigger threat.

Why use an atomic ...

Why use an atomic bomb and make things worse by wiping out the human race??

Too bad the golf ...

Too bad the golf pipeline is horizontal not vertical , otherwise this would work

We've tried similar ...

We've tried similar things - project Plowshare for instance - which is why we don't use nuclear charges in scenarios like this. Yes it stops the flow, but neutron activation of the gas supply makes it radioactive and no longer usable. In short, a gigantic waste of valuable fuel. Another poster was correct, the same thing can be accomplished with conventinal explosives - without the radiation effects.

you can yousing ...

you can yousing normal bomb with TNT like 250 KG or 500Kg

BP requested the ...

BP requested the use of OSE II to the US EPA on June 3, 2010 in order to convert the BP Gul;f spill to CO2 and water and to prevent natural resource damages.

This is the most ...

This is the most stupidest thing ever If u sent a nuke over a major oil leak like in the gulf U would wipe out about 10,000 animals and injure about 25,000 animals due to radiation and explosive debris

2:53 the letters on ...

2:53 the letters on the control panel are cyrillic. it's pretty much USSR's propaganda.

We need to fix this ...

We need to fix this as soon as posable. Ok nuke it!

Long live nukes

Long live nukes

This is the old ...

This is the old school way of dealing with such leaks. Now we discovered and keep discovering new facts on the dangers of nuclear energy and it's impact never thought of before. Nuclear weapons are only useful to blow up/change course of asteroids, comets to evade a doomsday scenario in my opinion. It's a very destructive force with more negative than positive outcomes.

How do we solve all ...

How do we solve all the problems in the world? Nukes. Lots of them

Call me a skeptic ...

Call me a skeptic but, would the release of approx. 25kg's of nuclear material really have been worse then the release 672 million kg's of oil? (4.9 million barrels total spill x 138kg per barrel). Many nuclear weapons have been detonated under water with no known significant adverse consequences to the environment. The ocean's capacity to dilute radiation is huge given it contains approx. 326 million trillion gallons of water and the radioactivity itself decreases with time.
