So What by.Miles Davis
I enjoy both Death ...
I enjoy both Death Metal and Jazz; death metal bands look to give a first impression as 'extreme', and what better way to do that than to have a ridiculous band name? While I've never been much of a Dying Fetus fan myself, I find Death Metal to be beautiful in its own right. It's a different kind of beauty than Miles Davis, that's a given; but it's beautiful nonetheless.

My dad, who also owns one of Miles's drawings, first played me this tune when I was eight, and I fell in love with the fantastic blues rhythm. Now i'm twelve years old, playing drums and jamming with my friend Harry, who plays the saxaphone like an absolute professional. We often make Jazz music together, greatly inspired by Miles, Cannonball adderly and Herbie Hancock. I'd be over the moon if you checked us out. Many thanks, and peace to all.

Props to Cannonball. Just imagine, Miles Davis and John Coltrane have just finished their solos. Now, it's your turn and you're a nobody compared to these giants. Cannonball kills in this song. That's what makes So What such an amazing tune.

fuck, i loveextreme metal but i'm sick of those metalheads sayin' "metal is too jazz related" "metal is too classical music related" "we metalheads listen to jazz and classical music, that says too much about us" shit it makes me think that metalheads don´t really believe that metal is good if popular music was bad (metal fits here) , it wouldn´t´ve inflenced classical music before Just enjoy and let enjoy the music

Just to say that a ...
Just to say that a genre grew out of another doesn't mean that the two genres are necessarily similar. Important things are often lost in the evolution. Jazz is primarily based around improvisation, as it was the first genre to really include it. Metal as I'm familiar with it does not include improvisation to such a heavy degree. (Though I'm sure you all will correct me.) Also Jazz is a subtle art, a study in minimalism, while Metal is by definition heavy and rough.

Generally, metal is more closely related to classical, and classic rock is closer to jazz.

There is credibility to what you're saying. I know this being a guitarist who plays both jazz and metal. Although the bands you listed really don't support your argument well at all. Bands like Opeth, Meshuggah, Mastodon, or even Dir En Grey are much better examples of jazz-influenced metal. Opeth especially.
