The fire is already close in any other engine it wasn't the reason why they were called "widowmakers". The reason why they were too dangerous was because the running gear was directly underneath the fireman and the engineer and many a time engineers and fireman would be fatally injured or killed when the running gear failed and shot up into the cab sending splinters and broken pieces of metal everywhere.

The camelback is my favorite type of freight locomotive there is. I wish it wasn't so much money. But anyway VERY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was never a big fan of the Camelbacks... The whole squat design was just not very attractive. Still a great video! I wish I had a place to put a layout like this... Someday lol...

Such a shame the ...

Such a shame the original was scrapped. Railfans tried to save it. But CNJ had already donated a camelback to the B&O Train Museum, and had no desire to donate another. The asking price was $6,000, which most of us could charge on a credit card today, but was a LOT of money back in the 50s. So after some railfan trips, she was sold for scrap. :(

I bought one of these as well, The only thing I don't like about it was that the vent hinge came loose during operation. Other than that, it's an awesome steamer

Where's the fireman? MTH should have figured a way to make a fireman figure shoveling coal on the read deck.
