i bought a 2012 ...
i bought a 2012 faded flying v and a les paul studio and both guitars are junk, both have very high action and alot of fret buzz,the flying v has more problems,the poles on the pickups don't line up with the strings because some idiot didn't take their time to line things up.The flying v has a crooked body when you look at it from the front in the neck pocket area.junk tuners,poorly shaped and cut nut.The low and high e strings would pop out of the nut.slightly scalloped uneven fret board.

Epiphones state of the Art facility opened in 2002 in China and it blows Gibsons away. The Chinese are better luthiers than the USA this isn't even Argueble. And most of Epiphone China work force are from the USA from top management to some of the luthiers. There. From Epiphone and Gibson USA.

I have a Japanese Les Paul that absolutely slays any American Les Paul I have put it up against. Japan gets the best wood from every country and they have the highest manufacturing standards in the world. Gibson stopped being epic as soon as their CEO became a business man first, and a guitar enthusiast second.

running's got nothing to do with it. Ive seen cars from the 20's and 30's that are in ''excellent running condition''. excellent running condition's got nothing to do with reliability. Every one I know that owns a harely (regardless of what age the bike is) is constantly working on them. Sure they sound "cool"(to some people) but I dont want to buy a bike if am going to be working on it constantly, its a waste of time.

you are incorrect regarding Harley Davidson.Most Iconic Motorcycle,Reliability same as or better than similar compitition,Honda for ex.and yamaha have copied the harley style in their larger machines,but fail to compete with Harley.There are Harleys around from the 1950's that are still owned by the original owner and still in excellent running condition.

But unfortunately his guitars don't have the same unique voice that a Gibson does. The PRS's are great, off the shelf are the best QC'd guitars out. They just don't sound right to me. It's a personal thing. They stay in tune, play great, look great.. I just don't get on with their tone. Sounds rather sterile to me.

I like the 'well-built and well-setup' clause you conveniently placed in your comment. No offense, really. I totally agree. The way I see it, if you want a guitar that plays consistently buy a Paul Reed Smith. Off the shelf there are NONE better. Unfortunately I don't like the way they sound. I don't know if it is the in between scale length or what. If you are serious enough to buy a Gibson you should be able to afford to take it to your luthier and have it setup your way.
