Aikido master - Shihan Tissier - Iriminage
i understand you ...
i understand you mean no disrespect however try to refrain from using the word "weaklings." just because i understand it does not mean another person will too
no disrespect, but ...
no disrespect, but I think the american gun culture has no educational values. martial arts are building strenght in body and spirit. it's not about self defence, or just about self defence. it's about the way of living. that's the tranzition from "jutsu" to "do". harder the path is, the stronger are the ones that walk on it. using a fire weapon is facile, terminal, and an option for weaklings. anyone can pull a trigger. guns have a charm as gadgets. but that's all.
(cont.) and you ...
(cont.) and you claim hand to hand combat makes you strong but a true sign of weakness is that you're calling someone weak over the internet for having their own opinion. i don't mean to sound like i'm talking down to you, really i'm not, however honor goes hand in hand with respect. the more respect you give the stronger you are
Owning a gun has ...
Owning a gun has its responsibilities. You have to maintain and service your firearm, learn the proper way to use it, the laws in owning it and much more. Just as its important when you learn Martial Arts you know you have a responsibility to yourself and the other person. The discipline in owning a firearm and/or learning Martial Arts are different but just as important to one and the other. We may differ in opinion as to which is better but we agree to the purpose of it all is self-defense.
that's your opinion ...
that's your opinion. sometimes it's not good though because all it takes for one knucklehead to get a gun illegally(which happens more often than not). that's why a gun for self defense is also good. aikido was invented because civilians weren't allowed to carry weapons and they needed a way to defend themselves against corrupt guards or dumb asses who carried them anyway. many martial arts were made for a specific reason for specific people well concealed carried permits are the same.
well, I live in a ...
well, I live in a country where it's ilegal for civilians to carry fire arms. and I think that's for the better.
no fist can stop a ...
no fist can stop a bullet that much is true, however robbers won't stop trying to attack you if you forget your piece at home, or if it jams. it happens even to well maintained weaponry. guns are good however you want to learn how to defend yourself if you're unarmed. also if the gun gets separated from you and the robber picks it up you want to know what to do and many martial arts address that
carrying a gun ...
carrying a gun makes no one weak. what makes someone weak is waving it around to solve every problem threatening to use it. keep an open mind because guns in many cases are good for self defense
in my opinion the ...
in my opinion the best way to become a great martial artist is to learn meny types. i wrestle(despite what many say it is a martial art) do jiu jitsu and am attempting to learn some aikido. as for striking i have taken the best strikes and the knowledge of the human body from many arts and combine them. its an eclectic self defense system i teach. i have some videos up as well

I just carry a gun. No fist can stop a 38 S&W
no such thing as a ...
no such thing as a black belt in Muay Thai. You only get the belts you win from fighting in a ring. But in any case, if you want to see aikido in practical application, minus the showiness, look at Tomiki Aikido
I've practiced ...
I've practiced aikido for a year now and to be honest I have been wondering about the practical applications of it. I love it do I shared my worries with my Sensei (who before he had even heard of aikido attained a black belt in muay thai) and he put my fears to rest. Some aikido is showy but those same techniques done fractionally different become powerful and defensive
The only thing I ...
The only thing I have to say about if Aikido is fake or real is. If it wasn't how did it manage to survive through these centuries as a Martial Arts form? People needed to protect themselves and obviously it worked.
1:09 The ancient ...
1:09 The ancient technique of Face Slapping
indeed you are ...
indeed you are correct, by using the 8 foundations of Aikido which allows the technique to work, you subdue the attacker and control them and decide wether to inflict injury or not, and that is the power of Aikido, harmony and peace but as well very devastating.
He seems to be ...
He seems to be using the same patterns, taking control of the opponents wrist and neck. But i might be wrong, cause don't know too much about martial-arts.
Little do most ...
Little do most people know, aikido does not translate into " the way of blending with energy". Aikido actually translates to un-fucking-touchable. Roughly.
good decision, give ...
good decision, give it time and you´ll love it!
I'm joining aikido ...
I'm joining aikido today!!!! At my high school. Apparently there's a dojo there
