I've been watching some of the videos on him and read some information on his travels etc, and if he is not the Buddha, he is probably a Boddhisattva as his followers claim. This young man has a very other-world quality to him. Whoever he was in previous incarnations, he was not an ordinary Buddhist. He's like someone from another period in history. His dedication is extraordinary.

The similarity is of brain waves occurring both in the meditation and while a sleep, however with a difference that in meditation you are pursuing wakeful, relaxed attention, while in sleep you let it go. As for seeking one's divinity, let's give the guy credit for trying what other religions that value blind faith over experimentation, would punish you just for attempting. Here in the west, you need to be independently wealthy to sit under a tree that long; someone is sure to throw beer cans, poke you with a stick to "get a job" or shoot you like some sitting duck for offending their neo-grasp of their favorite scriptures / deity.

Very true brother. Also its just the arrogance of the culture of the west that they cant uncover the veil from their eyes to see the other side of things because they have so much pride in the system they go by now which is definitely not even close to being efficient at all. For example look at chines medicine, They don't barely use have the equipment that the west uses and people get better quicker and faster than if they were to use all these different radiation therapy and such.
