im sorry, but if an aircraft takes off, and actually loses altitude it is not very safe!!, if you watch, the aircraft has only reached around 200 feet and it sinks, then he pulls the yoke back, if there were any wind sheer at any airport, that plane would be totaled & possibly cause fatalities!! ridiculous take off. if that is procedure for russian planes then theyre not fit for flight!!

Yes I understand the 154 was built for use out of Gravel/Unpaved strips and also Extreme Arctic Conditions. The Old Bird is tough, and most crashes are Pilot Error from what I've heard. The 727 is much more widely used than the 154 is, it was when new and is still now. I would also like to put a challenge out. Anyone who can find the 154 version of Iran Air 277 (727) I would like to see it.

Not quite. The ratio of fatalities in the Boeing 727 vis. a vis. Tu-154 is higher for the 727. Not to mention that while the 727 had airports built for the plane, with the Tu-154 it was the other way round. Most of the crashes involving Tu-154 were conditions that the Boeings wouldn't have survived either and yet in many of these incidents, the Tu-154 held on where a Boeing would have disintegrated.

However, there are a Lot more Boeings than Tupolev's. If you were to look at a Crashes to 1,000 Planes Ratio, the Tupolev would be above the Boeing. The only problem With Soviet Planes is exactly that, they were Built during the time of the Soviet Union.
