Being white, straight, man...those are things that describe who a person is. But being deaf is a different story. Would you tell someone who couldn't see not to get glasses? Being deaf is only a fraction of what they are, and so changing that wouldn't make them not themselves any longer. I mean, look how happy the baby is. Why not have that?
