funny you should say that . . . i always felt that the theme song to alice could have been a lot more awesome. this was the day of "one day at a time," "laverne and shirley," etc. and this theme really didn't fit the show. it should have been pepier.

I used to watch this at my Grandma's house when I was a kid. She used to say that whomever was singing the theme song "couldn't sing a note". Now that I'm older and hearing it as an adult, I realize, she was right!

this is the 2nd tv show that came about in the 70s with a divorce woman with a child to raise. one day at a time being the first. up until then, single parents were ALWAYS widows/widowers. i guess divorce was a dirty word. i loved this show.

I enjoyed the show but the Bad Food Jokes were excessive( If the food was so bad ,why eat there??) and Flo's 'Kiss My Grits' ranked up there with 'Dyno-Mite' and 'Sit on it' etc,as one of many 'Overused Television Expressions of the 70's'

When this program originally aired I was a chef at a Hispanic restaurant. The waitresses I worked with were just a bloody stupid (if not worse), than Beth Howland's character. At least her character was sweet and innocent, but these broads were bee-eye-itches!
