If you need to ...

If you need to shoot inside, take a look at the Sigma 10.5mm f2.8 fisheye. I haven't tried it but it seems like a good lens, although more expensive than the Tokina. However, the Tokina has an awesome built quality, it is definitely as good as my Canon 400mm prime, it is rock solid, feels just great in hands and as soon as you stop it down to f4.5 (10mm) or f5.6 (17mm), you get tack sharp images. The kit lens is a toy next to the Tokina. Plus, you don't get any blur above 1/5sec or even less.

would you recommend ...

would you recommend it for photography inside? basically i have a canon eos 450d, nearly the same model as you have. i need a wide angle lens wich is not so high-prized for doing shots inside of rooms etc., without having to take more than 4 images and merge them together in photoshop to a panorama picture. and secondly, is the quality good compared to the kit lens?
