I know it's laughable because it the song was about a girl, but it did spark an interest in how somehow music can move us, sometimes in the most unexpected ways. Some of the word didn't match up with how i felt, but the song itself did.

I thought I finally belonged somewhere and I might never see them again. Being in a family with 4 kids I had no privacy, I went to sit in our family's car, looking at the heart they gave me and playing this song in my head because it matched the heartbreak I was feeling. I remember that vividly every time I hear this song.

I remember being 10 ...

I remember being 10 years old, my family was moving across country the next day after living my entire life in the house we lived in. I had just gotten out of school where my class, mostly friends, had given me a handstiched heart with "We'll miss you!" stitched into it with everyone's signature on it. I can't tell you how much this meant to me, and being 10, I didn't know how to express sadness like that.
