Sadly, I've only had the chance see the first two episodes of the anime, and only the Onikakushi-hen in the sound novel. Despite that, I'm already seeing some reat lessons that I think need to be taught, such as the real value of trust and friendship. So far, this story is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

The visual sound novel is awesome, the anime is good, just good. One of the biggest difference I notice between most anime and any other show is that anime contain many morals one can learn from, I have yet to understand the message the cicadas try to tell me. =)

Supersonicgirlify is my daughter and we actually own Elfen Lied but we have only watched the DVD's once ,because even though it's a great show, it's painful to watch. Especially when the school kids killed her puppy. I only saw one torture scene from Higurashi on YouTube and it was too sad for me. I guess Supersonicgirlify and I are too kind hearted. I appreciate Gantz ,but it's depressing. I have to be in a bad mood to watch Gantz.

In my defense, there are some cool parts of this series, especially in the second season (also known as Kai). But yeah, the sheer mystery and psychological factors make this a great series. You don't like blood and gore? Then this series is not for you. Nor is Elfen Lied.
