The old bug is just so much better in every way, the new bug is just another no quality high quanity machine that gets it's idenity from comparing itself to other new cars so like every other new car it sucks, I had a 1962 bug and there is no way in hell a new one could take the beating I gave it, we would hill climb with it, mud bog with it and then in the winter you could not wait for it to snow I wouldn't trade a $100,000.00 for the fun I had.

They should have ...
They should have taken a gen 2.5 New Beetle and added the nicer interior from the gen 3. The gen 2 interior was awful, but the new design is probably as close to the origial as modern saftey will allow. Too bad the styling is putrid.

In my opinion, the original beetle was a very well built car that excelled in its' spartan utilitarianism. It had no AC, barely had any heat, no bells or whistles beyond basic transportation. Owners would add stuff, and even VW started adding things toward the end, but at its root it was a cheap basic car you could work on. No new Volkswagen can recapture that segment as long as they choose to compete on the basis of features and performance for the same price as every other car on the road.

Classic is best? Where the fuck is the lighs on the interior? Why does it only go 40 mph? The new one has an awesome interior, nice design and it goes like 103 mph. Why the fuck do you judge old cars better? Just because of memories? *facepalm*
