Just Glue Some Gears On It (And Call It Steampunk)

...

Pity, really; I ...

Pity, really; I just love Nixie Tubes!

Oh this was so ...

Oh this was so satisfying to watch, I've been ranting about the same thing for what feels like forever. Always the gears, always the goggles used for nothing (and often modded so that they either don't offer any protection or can't be seen through, or both), and then the top-hats. Steampunk to hipsters is basically goggles, gears and top hats. Oh and maybe corsets for women, too.

I like steampunk, ...

I like steampunk, but I feel like most the fans ruin it, They're like the hipsters of the nerd world.

Now this damn ...

Now this damn song's gonna be stuck in my head all day...

I here you and ...

I here you and agree. I see lots of crap that is called steampunk. l would prefer to see more in the way of metal etching and stain glass in the Victorian style. are you the reader an artist that knows how to do metal etching or stain glass? if so, please join your local Hackerspace and hold a workshop because people need to know how.

Sleep? What sleep? ...

Sleep? What sleep? Im staying up as long as need be to have my steampunk outfit follow the ruls and laws of this song. I thank you, good Sir, for showing me the error of my ways

I know u r ...

I know u r protective of ur "version" of what steampunk "is" but from what ive seen it "is" what u make of it. Newcomers to steampunk may turn away when they're not accepted for trying. We all hate poseres, but take the newbies under ur wings.

metalmorphoses on ...

metalmorphoses on deviantart is guilty for doing this.

I sure didnt, ...

I sure didnt, learned by myself from playing games so yeah, fuck off rich boy

Forgive me, I don't ...

Forgive me, I don't mean to be rude, but I hate when people use that argument. There's a difference when a language is being taught at school around the world. Isn't English being taught in school in your country? I sure learned English at school. It's my 2nd language and not my last. It's probably the easiest language on this planet if you start off with a Latin one.

Don't know ...

Don't know portuguese, but I do know Spanish if that means anything.

too bad my grammar ...

too bad my grammar is bad, but hey, it only my third language, lets see you speaking some portuguese with good grammar

Every time I see ...

Every time I see shitty steam punk posted somewhere this video is always in the comments XD I love it!

Knowing who Jamie ...

Knowing who Jamie Hyneman is legally entitles him to call people a retard? Wat? Your grammar is retarded, I'm legally entitled to call you that because fuck you that's why.

don't start on ...

don't start on goggles

"It" (I'm assuming ...

"It" (I'm assuming that you mean freedom of speech) might legally entitle him to do so, but human decency dictates otherwise.

I dont think anyone ...

I dont think anyone expected you to understand. dont worry, youre just... special

actually, it ...

actually, it legally entitles him to do so. Know your laws, retard

Chill out, man. ...

Chill out, man. Just because not everybody cares about Mythbusters doesn't mean you can go around calling them all retards. That just makes you a jerk.

True, the other guy ...

True, the other guy had no right to call you "full retard" just for not knowing who somebody is, but how on earth can you say that Jamie Hyneman is "terrible" when you don't even know who he is? THAT is what makes you ignorant here.

THis video is one ...

THis video is one of the coolest I've seen for a rather long time. My deepest respect for the song, the pics and the work!

God damn it this ...

God damn it this is addictive.

Let me add, though ...

Let me add, though, that the Nixie thing is my only nitpick.

They're also * ...

They're also *predictable* from Victorian-era tech. Gas discharge tubes were already known (even if all of the various gases used in the 20th Century weren't yet), and the idea of layered elements lit to visibility one at a time comes straight from the diorama (unlike, say, segmented or dot-matrix displays). They're more probable than not, so I'd say they're fair game—if the late Victorians had a use for them, they'd have made them.
