Do you use a lot of gas treatment and or do you keep your rpm low when you drive?
Don't use overdrive ...
Don't use overdrive as much in the city and DON'T USE any gas treatment and your EGR will stay much cleaner. My reasons for this are, your engine don't need the load of OD n city and gas treatment wet down the hot burning of gasoline.Carbon build up isn't from lower quality gas, it's from the EGR Exhaust Gas Recirculation. When your engine is at higher rpm, there is less of a chance of EGR gases build up.

Tough call. Take a telescoping magnetic pickup tool and try poking it around to possibly pick it up, or out. If it get's in your motor, it will do damage no doubt.

you really need a slide hammer. It costs about $20 at auto parts store or at tooltopia. If you try to knock them in half way like block freeze-out plugs, they'll drop into the manifold and you will NOT be happy.

Just so everyone knows sometimes just spraying the carb cleaner isnt enough..I had to literally scrap the carbon off with a flathead screwdriver in addition to using the carb cleaner since mine was froze up bad. However it worked and I didnt have to buy a new one. Not everyone may have to resort to scraping tho.
