This cliche "that ...
This cliche "that beauty is in the eye of the beholder" has a lot of bad things to answer for. We ought to attach the word "quality" to our definition and then enlarge upon that. "Shape & Form" - "good use of dynamics" - "repeatability" - "respectability" - "longevity." There must be other things to consider before you declare anything is to be valued solely on the judgement of the "heart" without any further consideration.

I prefer the classics too but we didn't get to where we are now overnight it was a slow evolution though various trends of music, in the end I think its usually a case of (as Weller put it) And the public gets what the public wants!

: it's an "eye of the beholder thing". to be sure. I'm 57 ... maybe I'm biased .. but I like the early stuff best .. less technology back then, less artificial assist, more raw talent .. nothing can beat this pure type of sound .. for 1963, it's quite incredible .. just like Brian Wilson's stuff ..
