в английском есть ...
в английском есть много схожих с русскими слов - например be = быть; beat = бить; milk = молоко; saddle = седло, но они наверняка не заимствованые, а просто имеют общие корни от общих предков. А вот насчёт слов Lady <= Лада и также talk <= толк(-овать) - можно согласиться. Норманнских заимствований в английском, конечно намного больше, я приведу лишь один пример - связка-глагол "are" имеет явное норманнское происхождение. Насчёт отрицания... на Западе даже Д.И. Менделеев попал под табу :-)

people in Sweden/Scandinavia have always spoken a North-Germanic language. The language spoken in Sweden today is of direct descendants of Old East Norse (The language the Vikings spoke that went East). But we obviously also have alot of borrowed words from German and so on.
