For all you people that are poorly judging his work, just remember that everyone's art style is different and for the guy who said throwing paint on a canvas wasn't abstract, sure it is because his painting wasn't something direct

I dont hate this and neither do i like it. Am i missing the point because i thought an 'artist' is supposed to have talent which only few people do but anyone even my 4year old can paint like this. I wouldnt display this in my house even if someone paid me. Sorry but its not art its a mess

Mate, if you can't accept the artist's explanation for their work, then why not just accept it for what it is and take from it something positive ~ you like the texture, the use of colour etc. People like you really crack me up :)

abstract is a simplification and summary of a concrete thing. example: "what you said was too abstract, can you give a specific example?", "abstract of a scientific paper is a summary" So if a reasonable person can not tell what an abstract painting is portraying, then is it really appropriate to call it an abstract painting? All art is already abstract anyway, art is never a straight 100% copy of real life. So why waste time by making a separate category called abstract art??

Without making ...
Without making critical comments about the piece itself, painting with your hands with either acrylic or oils...especially oils!...on a rough canvas surface is exposing yourself to unnecessary toxicity. You are rubbing the pigments in to your skin and some of them, especially the yellows and reds, can have cadmium in them. I wouldn't paint like this over the long term. Interesting exercise to loosen yourself up though.

This is crap. As an abstract artist myself, I realize that it's all in the eye of the beholder, but let's get real. Merely throwing globs of paint on a canvas does not necessarily make one an artist; nor does it make for a good painting.

Ok, its pleasing to look at. But taking some grandiose meaning from it is just stupid. Its the kind of thing that the art world is full of - snobbery. Throwing together a painting in less than ten minutes can't have given that artist any joy or pride. Giving it some high falutin concept is a cynical exercise in raising the price of the picture...
