Here is a little WWII history for you...Kyiv Post. Independence. Community. Trust - Ukraine - Lviv museum recounts Soviet massacres--this is a link.

Oh, wow! I love ...

Oh, wow! I love Chicken Kiev--it's a delicious Russian dish! I am almost a professional chef, so I know! Because I am a Christian, I will forgive your insults. Was hoping to have an educated exchange of info...but realize it's pointless...you are way too angry. Everyone writes history to favor their side and I wasn't there to check out the facts. SO I SAY PEACE TO YOU MY FRIEND, AND MAY LOVE FIND A WAY INTO YOUR HEART! Saludos de Colorado!

Kyevan-Rus is ...

Kyevan-Rus is ancient Ukraine and the capital of Ukraine is Kyiv, not Kiev (that's the Russian spelling and Ukraine is not Russia). Moscow is the capital of Russia. Vladimir the Great brought Christianity into Kyevan Rus kingdom.

And before the ...

And before the Variags? There was a Tripillian civilization. I don't disagree that at one time maybe they were united, but because of the fighting the princes went ahead and founded the Muskovite empire--you do know that it existed, no? Kraina means borderland and that's all Ukraine wanted -- it's own borders. Lithuania could claim Ukraine too...they ruled for a long time. So open your mind a little--is Ukraine not allowed to want its own country?

We also have ...

We also have Ukrainian Pravda. Explain to me why the capital of as you say "Ancient Russia" is Moscow...is it not because it was the Muskovite Empire--a separate kingdom from Kievan-Rus.

Yes, and that is ...

Yes, and that is sad when people sell themselves and their country for own benefit--that seems to be a sad saga in Ukraine's history! And other countries as well, no?

Oh my, my, I ...

Oh my, my, I suppose you know it all, why should I send you anything? When one looks at a WAR from a prejudiced point of view, one is stuck! It's amazing--Ukraine was the battleground and maybe you don't think any Ukrainian person died or suffered. Did Ukraine attack anyone? It's always caught in the middle...Caught between the Soviet Communist Red Army and Hitler's.

The most powerful ...

The most powerful successor state to Kievan Rus' was the Grand Duchy of Moscow ("Moscovy" in the Western chronicles), initially a part of Vladimir-Suzdal. While still under the domain of the Mongol-Tatars and with their connivance, Moscow began to assert its influence in Western Russia in the early 14th century.

[3] Galicia- ...

[3] Galicia-Volhynia was eventually assimilated by the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, while the Mongol-dominated Vladimir-Suzdal and the independent Novgorod Republic, two regions on the periphery of Kiev, established the basis for the modern Russian nation.Novgorod together with Pskov retained some degree of autonomy during the time of the Mongol yoke and were largely spared the atrocities that affected the rest of the country.

Ultimately Kievan ...

Ultimately Kievan Rus' disintegrated, with the final blow being the Mongol invasion of 12371240,[53] that resulted in the destruction of Kiev[54] and the death of about half the population of Rus'.[55] The invaders, later known as Tatars, formed the state of the Golden Horde, which pillaged the Russian principalities and ruled the southern and central expanses of Russia for over three centuries, impeding the country's economic and social development.

In the 10th to 11th ...

In the 10th to 11th centuries Kievan Rus' became the largest and most prosperous state in Europe.[51] The reigns of Vladimir the Great (9801015) and his son Yaroslav I the Wise (10191054) constitute the Golden Age of Kiev, which saw the acceptance of Orthodox Christianity from Byzantium and the creation of the first East Slavic written legal code, the Russkaya Pravda.

First, Wikipedia is ...

First, Wikipedia is a source where anyone can add what they think--not necessarily historically true. Second I asked you what happened to the Muskovy Kingdom? Novgorod was its capital, no? Third--it doesn't matter what "okraina" means in Russian, it's what it means in Ukrainian that's important. Fourth--sounds like you hate Ukrainians because they want their own country??? Neither you or I were there in those times so we are stuck with our versions...are you a Bolshevik?

Ancient Russia was ...

Ancient Russia was called Muskovite Kingdom...Kievan-Rus is present day Ukraine--check your geography map. I don't know when Russia changed its name from Muskovy, but the capital is still Moscow like Kyiv is still capital of present day Ukraine. Genghis Khan dominated the Golden Horde for 80 years and Muskovy for over 200 years--two different kingdoms.
