Yeah, but don't forget about the fact: after rooting you have full-featured $99 Android 2.1 device that's capable of much more than one can imagine. I've rooted it with ZCNooter pack the very same day I bought it and I don't care about the warranty (although the pack allows to revert the system to stock state if needed).

if you're buying a kindle for the x-ray feature you might be disappointed when you find out that it's not supported by every book.
i would also add ...
i would also add that amazon tends to have a larger book database and it does have the x-ray feature (which for some people may be the difference between their decision of kindle/nook)

the nook doesn't have ads, it has physical page turn buttons and expandable storage. it can read epubs and it has a much faster refresh rate. the kindle has an mp3 player

I would definetly go with the nook family. For one thing, its amazing and simple! I am thinking about getting the whole NOOK family! And, going onto a different path, if you get the nook color or nook tablet, you can root them to be a full android tablet. Going with this over the kindle touch would be a sensible idea. I hope this helped :D
