Ice cannot exist solid at standard elevation unless it is at or below 0°C, you cannot "heat ice". The sphere shape creates minimal surface area, so the ice melts much slower than a cube or bar. That was the original purpose of this, i believe. Also, its cool as fuck, pun intended.
