The site matches most of the criteria from Plato's account and was vaporised by a massive volcanic eruption, occurring between 1650 and 1600 BC. They were extremely advanced, with sewage and hot and cold running water. The island was a major bronze age trading port, which made the inhabitants extremely wealthy.
