I agree. 4'33" is just an age old idea with John Cage's name put on it. That being said, I do enjoy other Cage ideas. When I was a kid I went to a concert in Cleveland where 4'33" was performed as part of the concert. When thunderous applause was heaped on the conductor and orchestra, my thought...."Ah, the emperor's NEW clothes!!!"

If you listen to everything with the same attention to detail and emotional sensitivity you bring to the concert hall you can hear beauty in any sound. Second, the distinction between art and propaganda, as between sound and music, is entirely arbitrary and meaningless.
