Steven Seagal - Master Of The Aikido
Why do people ...
Why do people criticize this form of martial art? It was my understanding that all martial arts are meant for defense.
What is the name ...
What is the name of this DVD?
That's an inherent ...
That's an inherent VHS analog transfer defect, not something on his face. Such overly white washouts are called hotspots.
i hope theres not ...
i hope theres not any aikido students who like this. steven segal goes against EVERYTHING aikido stands for and it is a shame. he has no discipline and no respect for the art itself.
Does anyone know ...
Does anyone know the move in use at 2:37?
You can still see ...
You can still see the dork in Seagal's face. He hasn't quite grown up past The Dork yet, but almost. Another six months to a year. Ironically it was being a dork and getting his ass whupped in skool that motivated him to learn Aikido. He was still unaggressive and had not yet found his manhood. So he took up Aikido. The poor bastard could have saved a lot of money, time, and sweat if he's just known he was going to grow up BIG and be six feet four inches tall with a scowling menacing air.
i have been ...
i have been privileged to study Nihon Goshin Aikido, /bow
Yes, there are ...
Yes, there are strikes in Aikido, but they are used as 'weakeners' to distract the opponent during a technique.
You saw one part of ...
You saw one part of my argument and decided to attack it in full. Listen to the whole thing. Its, funny because we aren't even arguing. you're just unknowingly agreeing with me.I never said "throwing someone on the ground is effective". I state: Kickboxing is limited as it exhausts to much stamina. Wrestling and BJJ are ineffective against multiple opponents.End of story. you dont always KO. And you shouldnt practice your martial art for effectiveness or violence. It should be for rectitude.
The attackers do ...
The attackers do NOT attack in a way any other martial artist would. Ironically enough aikido practitioners practice defending against other aikido practitioners... who don't practice any attacks. Respectfully, this is nonsensical.
Simple. Find ...
Simple. Find someone & challenge him.
are there strikes ...
are there strikes in aikido or just grapling ?
Aikido is use the ...
Aikido is use the attacker force to attack back and protect themselves. Aikido can use in real life.
I would be honored ...
I would be honored to have my ass kicked by Mr. Seagal.
no, idk (not high ...
no, idk (not high enough rank for randori), kinda (define real life. also, go google aikido stories, cause im sure others have had more "dangerous" lives than me), no
Is it affiliated ...
Is it affiliated with Seagal? Is the randori like this? Have you been able to use aikido in real life sucessfully? If your affiliated with Seagal then have you met Larry Reynosa, and if so was he very skilled using kicks and chops?
im uncomfortable ...
im uncomfortable giving out the name, but it's a dojo in canada, so its not well known, unlike the ones in japan
So what dojo do ...
So what dojo do you go to?
i wouldn't know, ...
i wouldn't know, since i've only been going to one dojo. i haven't had the chance to visit other dojos
yeah cause your so ...
yeah cause your so tough you can beat more then 3 people wow your so scary.
so do all the ...
so do all the dojo's practice this randori at this level?
there is no art ...
there is no art thats going to protect you against more then one attacker who bum rushes you all at once. If there going to get you one at a time nad you can hurt them then yes maybe you have a chance. The falls arent just for show there basically to drop you on your head, neck etc etc, thats why you have to learn to break fall, or else your arm will also get broken, or your joint will get broken.
You can "believe" ...
You can "believe" in aikido all you want but your "belief" won't rescue you when you try to apply unrealistic techniques to real-life attackers. If you truly "believe" that you can defeat 3 attackers by using evasion, good luck to you!
